LIVING THE DREAM !!
After competing in the BSB rounds of 2008 the team entered the final 2 rounds of the Spanish CEV Championship at Valencia and Jerez. I drove the truck down with Will & Amir, firstly into Calais where we stopped for a nights rest then down through France and on to Valencia where we parked on day 3 in the outer paddock. We did a few jobs on the truck to get her looking good and parked in the paddock on Thursday. Great fun and a brilliant result from Jordan Thompson on the 600 saw us leave Valencia and head to Jerez. After a couple of days in Cadiz parked on the docks (safe and secure.....and free !) we set up at the track on Thursday along with a couple of other Brits. Mark Keane and his lads, who were with us at Valencia and Malcolm Ashley who had not had the best of experiences at the hands of the Jerez organisation. Another fantastic result from both Jordan and this time Deano Brown saw just Will & me leave Jerez on Sunday afternoon and head a few hours North towards Madrid before parking up for the night. Amir flew back with the team as he had to take a van load of bikes straight back out to Cartagena. An early start on Monday morning got us well past Bordeaux on Monday night (after a brief check from the police at Irun, where everything was in order....I think they just wanted a look at the truck !) A leisurely start on Tuesday got us aboard the 21.15pm ferry into Dover from Calais after a run round the Paris peripherique, and after struggling to find somewhere to park up (well organised UK.....NOT) we bedded down in Folkestone. Wednesday saw us join the inevitable traffic jam on the M25 before heading up the M40 for the most expensive (& rubbish) breakfast of the trip. Dropped the truck off at Frank Wrathalls and home Wednesday night..job done.
Brilliant fun, good times and great company. Thanks to everyone on the trip for a great team spirit & I look forward to next season with much longing.
